Today, Yellow Travel, the top provider of Birmingham Airport taxi services, has reacted with delighted to news that 1.1 million passengers were recorded at Birmingham Airport in the month of June 2016. This is the 16th consecutive month in a row that the airport has broken passenger figures records.
To put the significance of this announcement into perspective, a phenomenal total of 1,118,452 people travelled through our local international airport last month. That’s over 13% higher or equals an extra 129,000 passenger on June 2015. Up until today, 5.2 million passengers have been through the airport in 2016 and we feel proud to be a part of the Birmingham Airport transfers experience for individuals, families and business people. Long haul passenger growth has increased by over 10% and short haul journeys are up over 13% year on year.
“June is the start of the busy summer season here at Birmingham Airport and it’s great that we have started this off with over a million passengers travelling through,” explained, Paul Kehoe, CEO, Birmingham Airport. “Long-haul routes are continuing to perform well but our short haul routes also saw very strong growth compared to last year showing that demand to fly from Birmingham Airport is increasing. Our growing list of airlines and destinations means more passengers are choosing to fly from the West Midlands as we offer choice, accessibility, flexibility and value.”
Scheduled flights make up over 86% of the huge passengers numbers witnessed in June up 26% on the same month last year. We wish the airport continued success with its record breaking run and look forward to catering to the needs of passengers requiring professional Birmingham Airport taxi services.
